Just Ask McCool: Why We Love Weddings

Wedding season is full-swing, and here at McCool Flowers we are rolling up our sleeves and diving right in. Our business has been open a whopping 20 years and we believe our success as a local florist can be attributed to our dedication to our customers and our constant commitment to superb quality and service.

Our seasoned McCool Flowers team has truly seen it all when it comes to special events. We’ve donated to countless celebrations in our local community, designed arrangements for customers all over the U.S. (Europe and Australia, too!) and worked with schools, service centers, churches, salons, fitness centers, and everything in between. We love being trusted by our customers with celebrations dear to their hearts.

One floral occasion we find particularly marvelous? Weddings! We love working with couples to create beautiful arrangements to brighten their special day.

We took a moment to reflect on all of the joyful reasons we are grateful for our brides and grooms. Here's what the McCool Flowers team had to say:

Cathy has been a well-known member of her community and beloved small business owner for 20 years, and as a full-service florist she has been ardently supported by her loyal customers since she opened her doors. To Cathy, the highlight of a McCool Wedding is delivering the personal arrangements to the bride and groom. Arriving in person with gorgeous bridal bouquets and sharing in the overwhelming joy of a bride’s wedding never cease to make her appreciate her work.

Lucy has been a floral designer for over ten years, eight of which she has spent at McCool Flowers. Her favorite part designing wedding flowers is using all of her experience as a designer to execute her best work for our brides and ensure their utmost happiness.

Juan enjoys seeing the work that goes into providing wedding flowers finally come to fruition, as it prompts him to remember why he loves floral design. He believes that making a couple’s wedding day beautiful is one of the most rewarding parts of his job. His favorite part of our weddings is working hands-on at the venue for set-up, especially because it allows him to see the bride’s reaction to her wedding day flowers!

Candie is inspired by the consultation process. She is moved by each bride’s excitement in picking her perfect wedding flowers, and loves helping her make those initial visions a reality. To Candie, seeing the finished bouquet in the hands of a happy bride is immensely fulfilling.

Brianne thrives in the high-pressure environment that goes hand-in-hand with designing for a wedding. She is driven by her determination to make the bouquets, boutonnieres, and arrangements come together exactly as the bride had envisioned.

Lily loves seeing the personality of each couple shine through during the entire process of working with them on their wedding. Every bride and groom has subtle quirks and charms that they incorporate into their day, and getting to known the unique idiosyncrasies of each couple are what make Lily appreciate their business most.

Thank you to all of our brides and grooms for giving us the opportunity to make your wedding day yours.

Pam and Tom

With the boat lights of the Dana Point Harbor twinkling behind them, Pam and Tom made their first toast as man and wife.

Notably one of our most popular wedding venues in Dana Point, Cannon's offers stunning ocean views from the patio on which both the ceremony and reception took place. Loose purple orchids were scattered along the entry table, perfectly accenting the blue grey tones of the Pacific.

Orchids were a theme throughout, used in the submerged centerpieces with lights and pebbles, in the tropical festoon adorning the arch in the ceremony, and as a tropical cake-topper.

The bride's bouquet was a gorgeous round clutch made with white hydrangea, purple lisianthus, lavender roses, and orchid blooms wrapped in white satin and decorated with white pearl pins as a nod to the coastal vibe of the occasion. She wore a purple orchid in her hair, the perfect subtle touch to compliment her vision for the venue.

The groom sported a purple orchid accented with a bear grass loop and an emerald green bowtie.

We're always grateful to work with Cannon's staff, and are continuously inspired by the creativity and personality each bride brings to the venue on her special day. A major thank you to Marc Weisberg for providing us with the photos from Pam and Tom's joyous evening!

Wedding~ Brittany and Jason at Heritage Park in Dana Point

You have to love a wedding with some fun and personality :) How cute are the bride's matching Converse sneakers?!
It was a cute little park wedding at Heritage Park in Dana Point overlooking Dana Point Harbor with a small reception afterwards held at What a Dish in Dana Point. The bride's bouquet was made up of hydrangea, purple freesia and beautiful purple lisianthus, wrapped with an ivory satin ribbon and pearl details added. The centerpieces for the reception at What a Dish were cute little mason jars with matching flowers- sorry the photographer didn't send us any photos of those. But she was nice enough to share these photos with us! Thank you to Tiffany Thompson Photography for that :)

Wedding~ Jennifer and Jesse at Canon's in Dana Point

You have to love a wedding with a cute furry ring bearer! And didn't Jordan the dog just look adorable with a flower collar to match the bride's bouquet?
Of course we can't forget how stunning the all white arch piece was against the beautiful fall sky on this gorgeous day at this beautiful venue overlooking the Dana Point Harbor! Or how pretty our bride looked with her cute jute wrapped bridal bouquet made with hydrangea and fressia, made smaller by request- but smelling just heavenly with that beautiful fressia!
Thank you to Vironica Golden Photography for sharing a few photos with us.

Wedding~ Danielle and Jeff at The Villa in San Juan Capistrano

If you are looking for a quaint, romantic wedding venue in Southern Orange County, be sure to look into The Villa in San Juan Capistrano! This adorable venue is tucked away, not far from the Mission San Juan Capistrano and has the most amazing charm!
One of the advantages to a Villa wedding is that with the Mission so close, you can schedule a wedding photo session there! Wedding photos at the Mission are stunning!
This beautiful wedding took place there on a warm September afternoon amongst the shade of the trees in The Villa's courtyard. Our bride's bouquet was a beautiful mix of Patience and Juliet garden roses, Vendela roses, fressia, brunia and Queen Anne's Lace with seeded eucalyptus. It smelled wonderful and looked even better!
A huge Thank You to Anna Goddard from Goddard Studios, she was so great about communicating and sharing photos with us! Without great photographers like you, we don't get to see how our creations look once the guests arrive! Also thanks to Michelle and Rachel at The Villa, you guys are always great to work with. Wedding~ Cassidi and Tommy in San Clemente

What a beautiful pallet of colors for a beautiful park wedding last July. Blush, ivory and grey were just so angelic against the green grass and blue sky. The brides bouquet was made with creamy Vendela roses, light peach Sahara roses small champagne roses and a touch of Dusty Miller, wrapped with an ivory satin ribbon- just stunning!
This beautiful wedding took place at Cypress Shore Park in San Clemente on a stunning day in July. Photo credit goes to 2 Rings and a Dress.

Wedding~ Kelsey and Robert in Orange

So bright and cheery with the teal bridesmaids dresses and the yellow freesia! And how beautiful is the bride's bouquet with white hydrangea, white roses, white lisianthus and white freesia?
This beautiful wedding took place at the Women's Club of Orange in historic Old Towne Orange, Ca. Not a normal venue for us. We tend to do more beach weddings then anything. But isn't it a great location!?
Thank you to Smetona Photo for sharing photos with us.

Wedding~ Katya and Craig aboard the Spirit in Dana Point Harbor

How amazing it must have been to have your wedding aboard an iconic ship like The Spirit just off the coast of Dana Point!? That's just what Katya and Craig did this last weekend! After they exchanged their nuptials, they headed to one of our favorite reception venues, The Dana Point Yacht Club for their fun filled reception.

Wedding~ Heidi and Steve at the Beach in Dana Point

Heidi and Steve chose a great location for their wedding- the sand in front of the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, also know as Salt Creek Beach. It was a cute little wedding with a beautiful sunset to finish it off. Sorry, the bride did not share who the photographer was.

Wedding~ Katie and Andrews at Dana Point Yacht Club

Katie and Andrew chose one of our favorite local venues for their nautical themed wedding- the Dana Point Yacht Club in Dana Point Harbor. Perfect venue for a nautical themed wedding! The entire venue overlooks the harbor and the boats.
Katie chose beautiful pink peonies and other pink and white flowers to compliment the navy and white ribbon wrap on her bridal bouquet. There were also roses and beautiful pink lisianthus! The lisianthus was some of the most beautiful I've seen in a while!

Wedding~ Carole and Bob at Canons

We love Canons Sea Food in Dana Point, the brides we get from there are just so sweet! Carole was no exception! And of course we love working with It's All About the Cake, also in Dana Point. Their cakes are not only beautiful, but they taste wonderful! Carole wanted to make sure that her cupcake tower topper hydrangea and her cupcakes were an exact match. We were able to take the flowers over to It's All About the Cake so that they could do a custom color match to the exact flowers that would be used! Talk about service :) And a huge thank you to TayPen Photography for sharing photos with us!
